The Music Room Chamber Music Society Season 9 Begins on Sept. 28

 

23 concerts for $150 ($75 tax receipt included)

The Music Room Chamber Music Society is a series of 20 concerts, 16 by local professionals, many of whom are members of Symphony Nova Scotia, and 7 by Young Artists who are destined for careers in music.

Individual tickets at the door are $15 regular admission and $10 for seniors and students. “Young Artist” concerts are $5 at the door.

Featured Works

Rêve doux-amer/Bittersweet Dream: follow soprano Stacie Dunlop and
pianist Krista Vincent through the memories of a life lived fully, exploring
childhood, sexuality and fi nally death. The poetry of Charles Baudelaire’s
Les Fleurs du mal (Flowers of Evil) is set by composers Claude Debussy,
Elliot Carter, Sheila Silver and Jonathan Harvey, along with three World
Premieres by Canadian composers Clark Ross, Scott Godin and Tawnie
Olson. With staging by director Roberta Barker and imagery inspired by
the art of Baudelaire’s age, it will be an evening to remember.
